On September 16–19, the 19th National Congress of the Polish Sociological Association (PTS) was held in Białystok. The Department of Computational Social Sciences was represented there by Dr. Marek Muszyński, who took part in Session G05: Quantitative Research in the Digital Era: Challenges and Innovations, organized by Prof. Henryk Domański and Prof. Piotr Jabkowski.
The session focused on the new realities of quantitative research, where novel techniques of data collection, processing, and analysis—often from new sources—are gaining popularity. During the session, Marek Muszyński delivered a paper entitled May I have your attention, please! Development and validation of new types of attention checks in self-administered surveys. The presentation concerned research carried out within a National Science Centre grant (Miniatura 8 competition). The study aims to create new attention checks designed to overcome the limitations of those used so far, such as low validity and the ease with which respondents can identify control questions.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the organizers (the Polish Sociological Association and the Institute of Sociology, University of Białystok) for preparing an excellent event. The next Congress will take place in 2028 in Toruń.
