A new paper of the RStyles team, entitled “Detecting Careless and Unmotivated Responders Using Cursor Movements in Web-Based Surveys” , was published in the European Journal of Psychological Assessment, a journal of Hogrefe (Impact Factor = 2.892).
The article introduces a set of new response process indices based on cursor/mouse movement and speed in order to use them in modelling careless/insufficient effort responding in web surveys. Our analyses show that these indices correlate well with classical careless responding indices, so they can be used in modelling this response bias. These results open new research paths in accounting for careless responding in computer-based surveys. The article’s preprint is available in an open access repository.
